Natural Disasters !

3000 dead black birds in Arkansas and 1000 more in the US state of Louisiana and the cause of death remain unknown.

Tabloids read that these dead birds simply fell from the sky and some link these to fireworks during the New Year celebration period. Some bloggers are now suggesting that it’s linked to the prediction done by mayan civilization while as others have even gone lengths in speaking about an invisible UFO although some are still blaming the country for conducting weird tests that have caused these animals to die.

Whatever may be the belief the cause of these deaths still remains a mystery till now. Some scientists are investigating the cause however it seems that scientific technology is so poorly that there is no conclusive answer yet and it may take more than a month to known the potential cause. It may sound strange but haven’t the scientists developed a way to clone animals and when the scientific technology has gone so far what’s taking the time to reveal the cause of this phenomenon.

Although the main focus is the bird apocalypse, a hundred thousand fishes have also been found dead in the Arkansas River. Some believe that there is some disease which is causing this phenomenon of animal deaths while as some believe it’s about time.

These mass deaths although maybe seen as a small incident and perhaps will be forgotten by the masses it definately has its potential impact on the balance of the eco system or perhaps they did die to preserve the balance of the eco system the distinction remains in the mind of the reader as they can be as optimistic as they can and similarly as pessimistic in the approach as they want to.

Nevertheless, there are few other natural disasters that are on large i.e. floods, these have caused havoc in parts of Australia and Brazil recently and the latest is the news about earthquakes which may hit major cities around the world including London.

Whatever it may be we can conclude the fact that the earth is changing its shape quite quickly whether it be polar ice caps to snow in Arabia, things are moving too quick for human beings to understand and hence are far beyond control of any human.

Annoying Traffic Light

Seriously , if you thought I was only going to write about technology then I think it was too much to ask for. I would agree with the thought that I personally will dwell more into writing about technology weather it be hands on or management , it would come straight onto the blog.

Well there is a thing I noticed lately about a annoying traffic light near Richmond rail Station. Ok, its a junction and one has to respect that , however the junction opens into a round about controlled by traffic lights again. Well the pain is due to the fact that cars coming from the by lane are in a better of situation as the traffic light on that end remains on for longer period of time while as this annoying one doesnt, as it just stays on for I believe couple of seconds and the worst scenario is that the left hand lane is a bus lane and as usual dominated by the buses, well who says buses are in control.

Anyway, just a food for thought, if you are planning to drive through that area in rush hours please do bear in mind that there is this traffic light just before the roundabout which opens into kew and other adjacent roads, will take its toll on you and you will be stranded in the right hand lane for approximately 20-30 minutes before you hit the roundabout that too if your luck is by your side.

Oh I would also like to add here that just before the station there is a zebra crossing which really stops you from driving across as people start walking from both directions and all you do is wait till they cross. Well here you go another reason to avoid the area on a busy day at rush hour.

Anyway, thanks for reading , appreciate it !

Samsung Galaxy Tablet !!

Half the size and weight of an iPad, Samsung Galaxy Tab is a tablet device with a 7 inch TFT LCD display that runs Andriod 2.2 (OS - Android 2.2 running Touch Wiz 3.0) will surely make its mark in the IT gadget industry.

The promotional videos reveal fantastic functional features offered by Samsung in this handheld device. Although many of these features i.e. Navigation, e-reading, internet browsing, working with documents etc are not new to users of such handheld devices, however certain features such as seamless Video Conferencing and the very cool Augmented Reality offered in Samsung Galaxy Tab will surely make some noise in the gadget industry.

Ofcourse time will decide whether Samsung will outrun the dominance of Apple as the company believes it will sell 10 million such Android powered tables by this time next year; however whatever will happen, the device is surely an eye catcher. Vodafone plans to distribute the Galaxy Tab in the UK in October.

Does iPhone4 requires a duct tape to sort its reception ! !

With Apple launching iPhone 4 and everyone thinking about how great it looks and how great the functionality will be it all boils down to the fact that the phone has a design fault in it as mentioned by many users.

Yes you read it correct, users of iphone 4 have complained about a design fault in the iphone due to which it loses network reception and the calls are dropped. Although Apple has returned with a statement that its not design but a software glich there are people who are really getting worried about their purchase.

Although no one expects this from an Apple products knowing for a fact that these pieces of technology are very robust.. well hopefully they are.. local techy people recommends a few things to sort out the issue with reception.

The most in-expensive and perhaps the most convenient solution for getting better reception for your iPhone 4 is using a small piece of duct tape even though it doesnt look that great after the solution has been applied.

You can read more about it on CNN , click here.

Well hopefully apple with come out with a solution as they recommend this is not due to a design fault but is related to software. Lets see if apple can crack this one out.

DSDM - is it coming back !

A methodology can be defined as set of practices that can be repeatedly carried out to develop an efficient product. The evolution of every project has a framework which is followed for its successful completion and to obtain a quality end product. Different projects follow different methodologies for their successful completion.

Dynamic System Development Method (DSDM) is a framework which provides a controlled but flexible process for delivering new and better systems. It involves effective use of knowledge with tools and techniques for development of prototypes which allows achieving efficient and fixed project delivery timescales. This methodology allows development of robust systems in private, public, business and education sectors. This framework provides an ideal basis for a development and implementation process involving human resources, technology and the processes that bind them (DSDM Consortium, 2007).

It concentrates on delivering successful business solutions on the scheduled time. This framework proves to be an essential tool for effective understanding, planning, communication, control and delivery of projects [Clifton and Dunlap, 2003; DSDM Consortium, 2007].

It is a realistic approach as it is based on the idea that a better quality product cannot be build perfectly the first time and hence requires few iterative developments before the efficient end product is successfully delivered [Mario Salexandrou, 2007]. The lifecycle of DSDM project is shown below:

The development framework has been divided into five project phases as shown in fig . The feasibility study involves validation of the applied methodology and business sense is ensured before the project is developed. The business study phase describes the scope of business processes involved in the project. In functional model iteration phase functional prototypes are developed.

Design and build iteration phase involves refinement of functional prototypes and the application is engineered so that it satisfies requirements of the user. Implementation involves development of the system along with testing and training of users [DSDM Consortium, 2007; DSDM and TOGAF, 2007]

DSDM offers many techniques to enhance system development at different stages. Techniques like facilitated workshops and prototyping allow quick project development and ensure that the project is accurate in business and technical terms by increasing user involvement. Other feature like timeboxing and MoSCoW allow successful completion of objectives at pre determined date by implementing continuous prioritization of requirements. The MoSCoW technique provides the basis on which crucial decisions regarding the flow of the project are conceptualized and implemented [DSDM Consortium, 2007; Coley, 2007; DSDM and TOGAF, 2007]. A thorough description of this methodology is available at www.dsdm.org.

Are Mashups the new breed of Web Applications ?

We have seen all kinds of web applications in the industry since the launch of Internet. Moving with the fast changing nature of technology and increasing demands do we think our old gold traditional web applications are going to adapt and shape up to meet the challenges or are we looking for some new alternatives which keep up to the pace of changing world.

Many organisations are looking into such web applications which do not rely on a single source to provide the desired functionality. These web application or Mashups are the new breed of web apps.

Yes

Yes I have started blogging.
Am planning to keep it more related to IT stuff however you will find some of the moments in time captured by me !
